Cover:
3 Scars out of 10.
I don't know what the fuck this is. I see the
band's name and just a bunch of random looking stuff. Beats me.
Booklet: 6
Scars out of 10.
Typewritten lyrics, pictures, and plenty
of thanks and credits. It's interesting enough.
Songs:
8 Scars out of 10.
I dig the first two songs, "Pride" and "Redefine,"
the best, and the rest of this is cool. Everything is basically heavy
and melodic. It's current radio metal or whatever you want to call it.
I like it better than their
first Cd "Scars." "Cross My Heart, " "Say You
Will," and "Love Hate Game" are other favorites. This
is produced by Johnny K, who is the Tom Werman of modern metal bands.
He seems to do everybody. Maybe that's why a lot of them all sound the
same. It's well produced, polished, and the songwriting is good enough,
but after a while some of this starts to blend together with other songs
and other bands.
Comments: I like this but it's getting
hard to tell one of these bands from another. So many of these bands
have the same sound and none of them stand out. It's cool for a little
while but then you get bored and move on. Soil has the potential to
stand out so their next Cd better seperate them from the pack a bit
more.
