Cover: 10
Porn Stars out of 10.
You can't fuck with a blonde porn star on your
cover holding a baseball bat and wearing a black bikini with pentagrams
on the bikini top! End of fucking story. The pentagrams on the bikini
top was a nice touch. More bands need to realize that hot chicks holding
weapons sells CDs!!!! The chick is porn star Jesse Jane.
Booklet: 8
Porn Stars out of 10.
I don't think we needed a poster foldout of Drowning
Pool since none of these guys look like N'Sync. That wasn't necessary
at all. What we could have used is a poster of the chick on the cover.
They should have kept with that theme and just used all photos of her.
Fuck what the band looks like. The booklet is layed out to look like
some sort of magazine with various quotes from the lyrics and pictures
of the chick. On the back of the CD, the singer is wearing a Kix shirt,
so that's worth mentioning.
Songs: 7 Porn Stars out of 10.
I liked the first single "Step Up"
because it made me want to fight people. It's the most memorable song
on the CD. The rest of the songs are ok and didn't really stand out
after a first listen or three. I like it better than Damageplan though.
Their new singer, Jason "Gong" Jones reminds me of Dave Williams
a bit, but Dave had more of a recognizable voice. This is current metal
much like Sevendust, Soil, Saliva, Chevelle, Damageplan, etc. If you're
down with any of that then this will fit in with your CD collection.
Comments: This
is a decent but it's not as good as "Sinner." The songs on
"Sinner" had more hooks and was more memorable. This disc
could easy get lost in the shuffle of a million other bands that all
sound the same. Yet they do have a cool video for "Step Up"
which has a bunch of porn stars in it so it's good to see a band embrace
porn stars and decadence.
