VINCE NEIL "Live At The Whisky - One Night Only"
by Ozzy Stillbourne

Cover: 8 Assault Charges out of 10.
I like the cover for some reason. It's the front of The Whisky and on the marquee it says "Vince Neil - Live - One Night Only." Being this is a live CD recorded at The Whisky, that makes sense. It's colorful and draws your eye in, so for what this is, I'm down.

Booklet: 3 Arrest Warrants out of 10.
Just a 4 panel booklet. Apparently Vince was more interested in spending his money on booze and hookers than putting together a good package here. It has minimum credits and the inside is just another picture of the cover and the songs played. No band photos, thank God, and nothing to really look at.

Songs: 6 DUI's out of 10.
Unlike a lot of live CDs, I don't think much as been touched up here, if anything. The reason I say that is because Vince hits some pretty sour notes here. He wasn't hitting the notes, I think they were hitting him. The beginning of "Home Sweet Home" is particularly good. Put in your earplugs for that one! There are also a few band fuckups along the way as well. So if they did fix things up, then I certainly wouldn't have wanted to hear it before they did! The show also includes a variety of Vince's quality stage raps, which includes "Lets see those hands tonight," and "Lets go back in time." There are only 12 songs and only one solo song, which is "Look In Her Eyes," which wasn't even one of Vince's solo singles. When he introduces the song, he sounds like he's not even sure what solo CD it was from. Supposedly they recorded more of the show but lost some songs or something stupid like that. Fucking drunks. Anyway, this is basically a Motley Crue tribute CD with Vince singing the songs and his band playing them. There should have been more solo songs because Motley Crue already has a live CD out. If anybody wants to hear Motley Crue live, they're going to buy Motley Crue, not Vince and his band covering those songs! What's the point?

Comments: The most entertaining thing about this CD is listening to Vince get drunker as the songs go on. Towards the end of the CD you can tell he's totally fucked up. He actually slurs his speech a few times, like during the intro of "Smoking In The Boys Room." At one point, Vince even says, "Shooters for everybody!" This gives you a little bit of the Vince Neil concert experience, which is a nice touch. Now if there was only some way he could insult you or hit you, then you'd have the full vibe of actually being there.
