THE DUCKS "What Were Once Ducks Are Not Ducks"
by Donna Anderson

Cover: 3 Daffey Ducks out of 10.
It's a red cover with a drawing of a big-headed duck. It's very simple.

Booklet: n/a
There is no booklet. It's just a cardboard sleeve with minimum credits on the back along with a few photos. For what it is it's not bad.

Songs: 9 Donald Ducks out of 10.
I've been listening to this CD a lot lately and I think it's great! If you're a fan of melodic rock along the likes of Marvelous 3/Butch Walker then you'll like this. Some of the music and melodies remind of Enuff Z'Nuff. Singer Russ Parrish, who plays Rachet in Metal Shop, is the singer and guitarist and he sounds good, though it's not how I would expect him to sound, but he sounds really good. I like every song on this CD and there is nothing to bitch about. "Sage," "Peppermint Lounge," "Somebody Stop Me," and "Lie To Me" are my current favorites. There are 14 songs total.

Comments: The Ducks have been around a few years and have one other CD already out. They play out in LA whenever Russ isn't playing in Metal Shop or the Atomic Punks. They do have a trendy name like The Strokes, The Hives, The White Stripes, etc, so I'm surprised they haven't been signed yet. I wonder what Metal Shop's Rachet would think of this CD, which features short haired guys playing melodic rock music? If you care, it can be purchased at The Ducks' website at www.TheDucks.net. It's $10, which includes shipping, or you can buy the "Box Set" which includes both CDs for only $20.
