Cover: 10
Queens out of 10.
I'm giving it a 10 because it has a chick's naked ass on the cover.
Nude chicks get 10s automatically. Doesn't matter what the photo is,
if it's got a naked chick, it's has to be somewhat cool. Let that be
a lesson for all you young bands out there. Naked chicks = sales.
Booklet: 7
AC/DC's out of 10.
Lyrics, lots of photos, credits, thanks, etc. There is a photo of singer
Justin Hawkins doing the splits off the drum riser like David Lee Roth
so that's cool. No nude chicks in the booklet though. From the photos
it looks like they put on an old school rock show and are probably better
to watch than listen to.
Songs: 5
Falsettos out of 10.
I'm not quite ready to blow these guys like everybody else is. I think
people are wanting an 80s style band so bad that anybody who comes along
remotely like that is automatically fucking GREAT! Not quite. The riffs
are decent but not that memorable, the songs are average, and the only
thing that really stands out is the singer's high ass voice. At times
he sounds like he's inhaling helium from a balloon or Tiny Tim is making
a guest appearance. You'll either like it or it'll annoy you real fast.
I find it annoying after a while and too overkill. He does say "cunt"
and "motherfucker" in the song "Get Your Hands Off My
Woman" so they have that going for them. Otherwise, download some
songs before you buy it.
Comments: These guys have called
themselves a cross between a gay AC/DC and a straight Queen. I can see
that. It's got some AC/DC qualities to it with a singer who makes Jim
Gillette and Mark Slaughter sound like Lemmy. At least these guys don't
take themselves that serious. I don't think it lived up to the hype
but I'm a bitter, jaded bastard. I don't even know how I ended up reviewing
this CD. This is more something that bastard boy floyd would be into
because he's a cross between a gay AC/DC and a straight Queen.
