5 Forged Signatures of 10
The cover is a picture of a chick's stomach pressed against somebody
else's tattooed body part. The title reminds me of Warrant's "Belly
To Belly." Well, that's what I think of! Fuck off and read a different
review if you don't like what I've got to say about it.
Booklet:
5 Rubber Checks out of 10
The 4-page booklet is full color but still kinda basic. One page
of thanks, one page of credits, no lyrics, but one big color photo of
Steve Whiteman and lots of small live photos of the rest of the band,
including a collage on the inside of the traycard, underneath where
the CD goes.
Songs: 8
NSF Fees out of 10
What can I say? All the songs sound like Kix. D'uh! Steve Whiteman,
Funny Money's singer, was the frontman for Kix for all those years,
so that's pretty much expected. All these tunes are catchy blues metal
boogie-rock, just like Kix, Great White, Dogs D'Amour, etc. The kind
of stuff you'd expect to hear at a bar where the bands have to play
in a cage to protect them from flying beer bottles and shit. Some songs
I dig include "You Rub Me The Right Way," "Bad Luck,"
and what earns my vote for the best title on the entire disc, "I'm
Your Whore." It should be noted that there's not a single ballad
on the whole album, which earns Skin To Skin major bonus points.
There's nothing modern or trendy about any of the songs here, so I guess
you could say it's "timeless." And when attributed to Funny
Money, "timeless" is probably a good thing.
Comments: Major props are
in order because not only did Steve Whiteman do 20
Questions with us back in December 2002, but Funny Money's song
"Good Boy Gone Bad" also appears on our Hey,
That's What I Call Sludge Vol. 1 CD. In fact, what better way to
sample the intentionally unrefined sounds of Funny Money than by checking
out our CD, which you can buy right
here. If you like Funny Money's tune and have a few bucks
left after purchasing Hey, That's What I
Call Sludge Vol. 1, you may want to pick up a copy of Skin To
Skin and check out the rest of their opus.
