BIOHAZARD "Kill Or Be Killed"
by Dana Brittingham

Cover: 5 Gas Masks out of 10
It's pretty simple really. Just a background image that's sort of supposed to look like an eclipsed sun, the Biohazard logo and some cartoon-like heads of an evil dog with big teeth and a spiked color, arranged in a circle. Not terribly creative but stands out enough so that if you were walking by this in a record store display, you'd be able to stop and look and say, "Hey! It's the new Biohazard CD."

Booklet: 5 Biological Suits out of 10
It's a 10-panel foldout which is always cool. 5 of the panels - one complete side of the booklet - is dedicated totally to the lyrics. They're pretty easy to read and they drop in the Biohazard logo on every page, but there isn't a whole lot else to look at. The other side of the booklet has credits and an abridged thank you list. It states that you can get the full, unedited thank you and credit list from their Web site at www.biohazard.com. Great, more work! The text is kind of hard to read as well and there's that sun thing from the front cover in the background. There's also 2 panels dedicated to that scary dog head again. Seems the booklet designer likes to recycle images a lot. A lot of wasted space. They could have accomplished the same thing with an 8 panel booklet and condensed some of the text. It has a see-through CD tray area and there's that sun thing again. There are no photos except on the back cover and it's really small. Does Evan Seinfeld ever take off that bandana? I think he sleeps in it.

Songs: 5 Decontamination Showers out of 10
This CD probably won't do it for you unless you're already a Biohazard fan. It's filled with heavy riffs, guttural growls, screams and football-type chants. It's heavy but isn't death metal or anything like that. Needless to say, this isn't the sort of CD that would get you singing along and tapping your toe. Sounds like typical Biohazard and gets boring to me after a while. It'd make a good soundtrack for a B-movie slasher flick or to go along with footage of riots and looting.

Comments: 20 Questions alumnus Evan Seinfeld is out of the hospital and since HBO's prison drama "Oz" aired its grand finale earlier this year, he's back into the band full-tilt. Even though I can only listen to the disc for so long before I inexplicably run down the street, turning over cars and breaking store windows, I still think Biohazard is a blast to see live. I saw them once several years ago and made the mistake of wearing sandals to the show. Needless to say, I learned the hard way that you can't get too close to the pit without proper footwear. One of my toes still hurts whenever it's going to rain. Come to think of it, that's kind of a handy thing to have happen. Thanks Evan!
