Cover: 9 Safe Homes out of
10.
The cover was done by Alex Ross, who is supposed to be some great art
guy. He's done some famous shit but I'm too stupid to remember what,
but I like the cover. It's the 5 members of Anthrax in a circle with
arms reaching out to them all the way around and them grabbing onto
people. The 'A' in Anthrax kinda looks like a pentagram too, so the
subliminal nod to Satan is always nice. It stands out and gets your
attention, which is what a cover is supposed to do. It would have gotten
a 10 had the members of Anthrax been wearing Metal Sludge shirts, but
I guess they don't care about us that much. :(
Booklet: 10 Cadillac Rock
Boxes out of 10.
I like the booklet a lot for a few reasons. It has all the lyrics and
next to each song is a picture describing what the song is about. That's
a nice touch. The color scheme works and most important, it has the
following:

Me and Stillbourne are thanked in the CD, so that's an automatic
10! And not to sound like a fag, but that's really cool since I think
this disc is a classic.
Songs: 10 Black Dahlias out
of 10.
I've been listening to this CD since January when a copy fell mysteriously
into my lap and I haven't been able to take it out of my CD changer.
The first time I heard it I thought it was good but after listening
to it a few more times it really grew on me. It's been 6 months now
and I've never grown bored of it yet and I have ADD, so that must say
something! It's one of those CDs that as time goes on, you like different
songs more and more. One week my favorite song is "Any Place But
Here," which starts off acoustically and then gets more heavy as
the songs goes on, and the next week all I listen to is "Taking
The Music Back," which has guest vocalist Roger Daltry from The
Who on it. I've always enjoyed John Bush's voice since he was in Armored
Saint and on this CD he sounds as good as ever. There is a nice variety
of songs here, from old school metal like "Black Dahlia,"
and "What Doesn't Die" to more melodic rock songs like "Safe
Home" and "Cadillac Rock Box," which has Dimebag Darrell
on guitar (he also plays on "Strap It On.) Charlie Benante puts
on a drum clinic in the song "Nobody Knows Anything" and sounds
like he has 10 arms. That song is one of my favorites on the CD and
should be definitely be a single because it's very memorable, yet nobody
ever asks me my opinion on those matters.
Comments: I know some of you
might be saying, "You're just kissing Scott's ass." Well fuck
you. If you're a metal fan there is no reason for you not to like this
CD. What more do you want? Even if Scott didn't run the page I would
still like the CD! Was that out loud? Anyway, I think it's one of the
best metal CDs I've heard in a long time and it deserves all the success
in the world.
