Cover: 5
Cabo Wabo Tequilla's out of 10.
I went to Tower Records to see what new CDs came
out and looked at the New Releases section and completely overlooked
this CD. I didn't even know it was out till I was at the cashier and
saw it listed on their board of new releases. I then went back and saw
that it was in the New Releases section the entire time and I just missed
it. What does that story mean other than losing 20 seconds of your life
you'll never get back? It means I didn't see the cover and it didn't
jump out at me. If you weren't paying full attention you wouldn't even
see that it says Sammy Hagar. It's just the neck of a guitar with a
price tag on it that says, "Not 4 Sale." It fits the album
title but doesn't jump out at you, just like the songs on this Cd.
Booklet:
4 Cabo Wabo Tequilla's out of 10.
This looks like something that would have come
out in the 80s. 6 total panels, one goofy band photo along with photos
of a guitar, road cases, and an amp, a message from Sammy, credits,
and that's about it. Very basic and simple. Not much thought went into
it.
Songs: 5
Cabo Wabo Tequilla's out of 10.
The first track is "Stand Up" which
is a re-worked version of the song that appeared on the "Rock Star"
soundtrack. That's not a good way to start off a CD because nobody wants
to be reminded of the movie "Rock Star." Another wasted track
is "Whole Lotta Zep" which is a few Led Zep songs rolled into
one. Something like that doesn't need to be on a CD and should just
be done live. The rest of the CD is ok. Nothing spectacular. It's middle
of the road Sammy Hagar. Maybe you need to be drinking Cabo Wabo Tequilla
to fully appreciate this CD.
Comments:
Sammy just turned 55, sounds as good as ever, and has a full head of
hair. He probably could care less how this does because he still looks
and sounds better than DLR.
