Cover: 5
Stoners out of 10
It says Down II with "a bustle in
your hedgrerow," which is a Led Zeppelin reference. If you don't
understand it you're best not buying this.
Booklet: 10
Joints out of 10
The booklet gets a 10 because I think
if you smell it enough you'll get stoned. It has this smell to it that
I can't get enough of. All I do is sit around and smell the fucking
booklet all day. It does fold out into this poster with lyrics, pictures
and stuff, but who cares about that. I definitely have a feeling you
could roll this booklet up and smoke it. Knowing these guys, you probably
can.
Songs: 7
Lake Pontchartrains out of 10
I've heard this CD described many ways.
Heavy but mellow, metal but with Southern blues. Shit like that. What
does it mean? I have no fucking idea. I'd say this is a Black Sabbath
CD if they were from New Orleans. Good music to smoke and drink too.
"Ghosts Along The Mississippi" and "New Orleans Is A
Dying Whore" are stand out tracks in my book. Phil actually sings
on some of these songs, though his Pantera style vocals are present
here and there. It's one of those CDs that you might not listen to straight
through. You'll skip around and shit depending on your mood, or how
stoned you are.
Comments: I
liked the first Down record a lot better, but considering this was written
and recorded in 28 days, I can't complain.
