5 Pot Leaves out of 10.
I don't know what this is. I think it's a take off of the movie "To
Mock A Killingbird" but I'm not sure. Probably one of the reasons
they didn't sell more copies. The back on the CD has the band all
wearing pig masks, something Nikki Sixx would borrow for "Generation
Swine."
Booklet: 6
Pot Leaves out of 10.
The background for the booklet is all pot leaves. It has lyrics and
some artsy photos of each band member in water. They are also pictued
on the back on the CD wearing animal masks, including a pig mask,
which is something Motley Crue would borrow 5 years later.

This was produced by Tom Werman who pretty much produced all the played
out hair bands. Pariah actually had some good songwriting and some
depth. I listened to this CD recently and it's pretty good, just a
day late and a dollar short. There aren't even any power ballads on
the CD, but they do have some slow, darker songs like "Letter
To Myself." The song "Powerless" is heavy song with
distorted vocals and "Anesthesia" is about pot. If I was
Tom Mathers, I would say their sound is "Dangerous Toys meets
Skid Row style."
Comments: These
guys were around for quite a while before they got a big deal on Geffen,
but by the time their album came out in 1992 it was about 2 years
too late and nobody cared. When the scene changed, Pariah should have
been able to survive, but unfortunately they didn't. The bass player,
Sims Ellison, commited suicide in 1995. (Note: Sims' girlfriend was
a local girl named Renee Zellweger who went on to become the Hollywood
actress) His brother Kyle, who played guitar, and the drummer Shandon
Sahm ended up in the Meat Puppets.
