Mr. BIG "Mr. Big" (1989)
by Donna Anderson

Cover: 8 Power Bands out of 10
This is the most simple cover I've ever seen. It's simply a tophat, pair of old shows, and a magic wand type thing. It has nothing to do with anything, but it is so simple that it's cool. This has always been one of my favorite album covers.

Booklet: 6 Power Bands out of 10
The booklet is pretty average. It has the lyrics and a picture of the band. It's one of those pictures that you know they're looking back on now going "what was I thinking?", but I digress. The booklet is typical of most released around that time. Mine's autographed, think it's worth five bucks on e-bay?

Songs: 6 Power Bands out of 10
Pretty good songs. I never could get too into this record. I think they did far better on their second album. Still, the songs are pretty good overall. "Addicted to that Rush" and "Blame it on my Youth" are typical of the cd. Power chords, big sound. There's also a really cool cover of "30 Days in the Hole". The songs are kind of what you'd expect them to be when veterans of other big rock outfits get together and try to make it "big".
