ROCK ON THE DECLINE BAND GETS DISTRIBUTION DEAL!

Drill 187

Remember when we used to do Rock On The Decline? We haven't done one in over a year because we got burned out, but it is coming back for our new Fall Season! Some reviews are already written, so new bands will be getting torn apart soon enough.

However, one band we did review didn't get torn apart at all. Back on October 13, 1999, we did a Rock On The Decline on the band Drill 187 and out of all the bands' we reviewed, we gave them the most praise. These guys stood out above the shit we usually get sent and they were well polished. So what happened to Drill 187?

Well they got a fucking distribution deal and might be headed to 'label-land!' Right now you might be able to pick up their CD at your local mall. It's available at F.Y.E. stores (mostly mall-type shops), Record Exchange, School Kids Records, Turtle's Music and some Mom and Pop type shops. You can also purchased the CD at their website at www.drill187.com.

This just goes to show you that we know what we're talking about. We said this band was good and deserved a deal, and now that might just happen. So since they actually have a CD in stores, here's our CD Review.

DRILL 187 "The Faceless Majority"

Cover: 7 Rock On The Decline bands out of 10.
The album is called "The Faceless Majority" so it's a picture of a city with a faceless screaming person in the background. Metal enough.

Booklet: 10 Rock On The Decline bands out of 10.
It gets a 10 right off the bat because they thank us in the credits. It also includes the lyrics and overall everything is laid out well. Nothing amateur looking. Like a good Rock On The Decline band, they included all their contact info, such as a mailing address, website and email address. Everything is easy to read and not too cluttered.

Songs: 9 Rock On The Decline bands out of 10.
We said this in our Rock On The Decline review on their 5 Song EP: "This CD has some great production. Everything fits into place real nice. Killer drum sounds, guitars are ripping and the vocals are very strong. Drill 187 know the crowd that will buy the CD and what needs to be represented. Lyrical content, double bass patterns, hard gut wrenching vocals and screaming guitar solos. Arrangement is also above average." Well that still holds true for this CD as well, so we just cut and pasted what we said before because we're too lazy to think up new things to say. This CD holds up to anything any signed metal band has put out and is just as good as anything on OzzFest. It's aggressive and well written metal and you can actually understand what singer Jason Lilley is singing, because he sings more than he screams. The songs are memorable, heavy, and well written, which is all you can ask for. Tracks we're currently enjoying include "187," "Fallen," "My Damnation" "Snakebite," and "Scrape It Off." None of the tracks suck though and each track had it's own identity. They all don't sound the same. By the way, there is no rapping anywhere to be found!

Comments: These guys could easily tour with everybody from Pantera, Black Label Society and Soil to Disturbed and Sevendust. It's heavy enough for old school Metallica fans but current enough for fans of Disturbed. There are song samples on their website so you can hear it for yourself.

So when these guys end up on OzzFest and with a Gold record you can say you heard it hear first! Fuck MTV.
