Nikki Sixx reacts to his double hernia surgery: “It feels like I got kicked in the stomach by a horse”

No, that wasn’t a guitar face you saw as Nikki Sixx wrapped up the initial string of dates on Motley Crue‘s Final Tour. He was actually in pain. In fact, Sixx was battling through a pretty serious medical condition — one that he’s finally been able to address, now that the band is on a short break.

“I have been performing during the last few months with a pretty intense double hernia,” Sixx confirmed today via Facebook, “but you gotta give 100% even through the pain onstage. The good news is yesterday I got surgery on both sides and it went really really well.”

Still, recovery hasn’t been easy. “Holy Jesus,” Sixx adds, “it feels like I got kicked in the stomach by a horse.”

Motley Crue toured from July 2 through August 31, and will resume dates on October 10 in Oklahoma City. Sixx says he expects to be completely recovered by then. “I should be up and kicking ass in a few weeks and back in the gym/tour in six weeks,” he says. “Looking forward to seeing you all back out on the road.”

The busy Sixx has also completed a new album with Sixx: A.M. ‘Modern Vintage’ is due on October 7. The next leg of Motley Crue’s Final Tour concludes on November 21 in Vancouver. It is unknown exactly when the tour will conclude, although the group has indicated the final show will take place in their hometown of Los Angeles.
