Jake E Lee’s Red Dragon Cartel have cancelled two scheduled UK shows ahead of their Download festival appearance.

UK — They were due to play in Glasgow on June 10 and Newcastle on June 11 – but the gigs have had to be called off. A statement says: “Jake has to fly back to the US on June 9 to attend to urgent business matters, unrelated to the tour.”

He’ll be back in time for the remaining shows. Ticket refunds for the cancelled gigs can be claimed from points of purchase.

Former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Lee formed Red Dragon Cartel alongside vocalist DJ Smith, bassist Ronnie Mancuso and drummer Jonas Fairley. Their self-titled debut album features a string of big-name guests: Paul Di’Anno (ex Iron Maiden), Rex Brown (Kill Devil Hill, ex Pantera), Todd Kearns and Brent Fitz (Slash), Scott Reeder (ex Kyuss), Maria Brink (In This Moment), Jeremy Spencer (Five Finger Death Punch), Tom Petersson (Cheap Trick) and Sass Jordan (SUN).

Earlier in the year, Red Dragon Cartel cancelled a few different shows.

The band cancelled a show in Minnesota on March 19th with only 3 days notice to the show date at “Pickle Park”. See details and the band statement (below) which was found HERE.

“We were just informed today that Jake E. Lee’s Red Dragon Cartel have cancelled their appearance this Saturday March 22nd at GB Leighton’s Pickle Park. This was the decision and the directive to cancel the show came from the Artist and their Management. For refunds go to place of purchase.”

Jake E Lee and his Red Dragon Cartel also pulled out of a show on March 26th last minute. The below article courtesy of Bravewords stated the following:

“The band posted the following: “Due to last minute unforeseen circumstances we are saddened and disappointed that we are forced to cancel tonight’s Red Dragon Cartel show at JB McGinnis in New Castle, DE. Please know this cancellation is due to no fault of the promoter or the venue. We apologize to the fans and supporters of Jake E. Lee and the rest of Red Dragon Cartel. It is our hope to return in the near future to make up the show. Thank you to everyone for your understanding in this unfortunate matter.”

Red Dragon Cartel recently announced a string of UK tour dates for June.

The day after the Monsters of Rock Cruise (April 2nd 2014) the band flew into the tri-state area, but yet again cancelled a New Jersey show 24 hours before showtime. But, the band offered to come back later in the month (April 27th) and do a make up show. They did just that at “Mexicali Live” Teaneck New Jersey and the review is right HERE

Red Dragon Cartel was also part of the December 14th 2013 cancellation in Tempe Arizona. Essentially this was Queensryche headlining and this show was part of the debut run of dates featuring the former Ozzy Osbourne/Badlands guitarist.

Going back in the Metal Sludge time machine you’ll see we posted one of the first ever articles on the web when Jake E Lee was on his never ending search for a lead vocalist. Check out that that original article right HERE. We’d like to think that Darren James Smith has been a Sludgeholic all along and we’ll take a smidgeon of credit for helping get the word out to the great white north about his future gig.
