Journey Guitarist Neal Schon Plans To Say  “I Do” On Pay-Per-View

According to The Pulse Of Radio, JOURNEY‘s co-founding guitarist Neal Schon is set to marry his fiancée, former “Real Housewives of D.C.” star Michaele Salahi, on December 15 on pay-per-view. The wedding-TV special, dubbed the “Winter Wonderland Wedding And Music Event”, will be held at San Francisco’s Palace of Fine Arts. Schon explained how they came to pick the venue for the nuptials. “We searched the world for the perfect location, and finally I said to Michaele, ‘San Francisco is my home. Now it is our home. I want to be married there, in the most beautiful city in the world, to the woman of my dreams,’” he said. “Everyone said they wouldn’t let us have the wedding there, but when our wedding planner took my passionate plea to the management, they said yes. We couldn’t be more happy!”

When asked about her upcoming wedding, Michaele said, “I’m living my dream and marrying my best friend and love of my life.” Neal added, “It’s like a fairy tale, it really is. I’m very happy, very happy after waiting for her for many years.”

According to the event’s press release, “wedding planner to the stars, Sharon Sacks heads up this amazing ‘dream team’ and is no stranger to high profile celebrity weddings. Some of her past clients include: Madonna, Michael Jordan, Jennifer Lopez, Denzel Washington, President Clinton and Kim Kardashian.”

Schon went on to say that the couple decided to keep total control of the wedding and self-produce the special, rather than be at the mercy of a network: “Everyone at the networks wanted to put their own creative spin on the event. Michaele and I discussed it, and we decided to hire a great crew and do the whole thing ourselves because this is really our day. What’s surprising is that no one had ever thought to do anything like this before we did.”

“Neal & Michaele: The Winter Wonderland Wedding And Music Event” will be hosted by Emmy nominee Debbie Matenopoulos, Emmy nominee Cameron Mathison, and veteran music, entertainment, and sporting event host Karyn Bryant, and executive-produced by Neal Schon, Brian Ricco and Peter Capozzi.

The wedding will be broadcast live in HD on pay-per-view Sunday, December 15 at 8:00 p.m. ET / 5:00 p.m. PT, and will be available via cable and satellite in 90 million homes.

Suggested retail price of the three-hour program is $14.95. Check local listings for stations.

Holy crap is this hilarious, and nauseating.

So Schon claims he was waiting for Salahi “for many years.” Really? Then why did he marry a woman in Minnesota during the last decade? She’s one of four women he has been married to, evidently.

You’re in a rock band that travels the world and has been successful for more than three decades. You earned the privilege of trading in wives like you’d trade in sports cars, don’t try to pretend you waited many years for Salahi. You didn’t. Fraud.

I was going to scoff at the idea of “networks” broadcasting this ridiculous wedding, but then I realized it isn’t so ridiculous of an idea. Few people care about Schon, but many people follow that “Real Housewives” crap. With a billion cable channels that rerun every program they produce hundreds of times, one of them is bound to be interested in televising an uninteresting wedding if it thinks it can make money off of it, given that the bride is one of the former housewives. And only because it’s a housewife we’ve heard of, thanks to her appearance at the White House.

I could see Bravo, E or perhaps VH1 slapping the wedding on its network on a Sunday, rather than repeating the garbage it normally runs.

But seriously, who pays $15 to watch this crap on pay-per-view? His relatives who he’s too cheap to fly into San Francisco, I suppose. I don’t care if there’s a “music event” in addition to the nuptials, you have to be seriously starved for entertainment, and have little going for you in life, if spending cash to watch this crap on pay-per-view makes sense.

How bad is your career going if being a “host” of this crap is worth your time. You have my pity, Debbie Matenopoulos.
