Philadelphia rockers Heavens Edge reunite for hometown show
Posted By: Metal Sludge
Philly — Anyone ever heard of Heavens Edge? If not. Shame on you! If so, get ready to buy a ticket because they are coming home to rock Philly for the first time in years.
Heavens Edge is another cool band from the 80s that somehow faded away…and seemingly has also escaped Metal Sludge over 15 years. Sure we’ve named dropped the Philly rockers, and mentioned them in some related articles – but it appears the data base has no 20 Questions with this band. How is that possible? Oh well. but never say never – as it’s never too late. They are doing an all original member reunion in their hometrown of Philadelphia in November. We’ll try to keep you informed and in the meantime check out the links and info below.

Heavens Edge formed in 1987 in Philadelphia, PA and was founded by guitarist Reggie Wu and singer Mark Evans, along with drummer Dave Rath, bass player George Guidotti and guitarist Steve Parry. Through the late 1980’s they played to packed houses at legendary Philadelphia area clubs like The Empire, The Trocadero and The Galaxy. After being signed to Columbia Records in 1989 Heaven’s Edge released 2 albums: Heavens Edge (1990) for Columbia Records, that reached number 141 on The Billboard 200, and Some Other Place Some Other Time(1999) on MTM Records. Heavens Edge was produced by Neil Kernon. The band released a music video on MTV for their most popular single, "Skin To Skin" Heaven’s Edge signed a new record deal with Capitol Records in 1991 and were asked to record a new album. The album was originally scheduled to be released in 1992 but was never finished until 1998 when a couple of new songs were written and recorded. Their second album, Some Other Place, Some Other Time was released by MTM Music in Europe, Pony Canyon in Japan, and Perris Records in the United States. The US version had a different cover and six additional demo tracks as bonus. In 2010 their debut record was re-released on Rock Candy Records as a special 20 year anniversary edition with two additional tracks.
In 2013 the original five members are reuniting to do a show in England along with a show in their home town of Philadelphia and have been blown away by the response. These will be the only shows in 2013. If things go well who knows what 2014 could bring.
